NEXT LEVEL FOLLOWING ( High Priestess following)

NEXT LEVEL FOLLOWING ( High Priestess following)

This totally reignited my passion for this topic, and makes me VERY curious to know how many of you are having these experiences on the dance floor? If you are having them do they feel abstract to you? Aside from dance do you have another form of feminine based spiritual practice such as tantra? I have so many questions for you.

So, when we go beyond our technically great following, and we become very sensitive, able to adapt to many different styles, have deep empathy, our own musicality, and sovereignty as a dancer, we can then enter the realm of what I am coining for now as “high priestess following”.

DANCE FLOOR DEAMONS -a different view on insecurity -

DANCE FLOOR DEAMONS -a different view on insecurity -

You are dancing with someone, the music is beautiful, it’s a great night, up until this moment you have felt connected with yourself, and blissful. Out of nowhere you start to notice some strange thoughts popping up in your head. These could be anything. From ‘am I following/leading well?’, to ‘what kind of energy am I reading from this person?’, to ‘did I wear the right outfit for this event?’, to ‘what will I do for my lunch plans tomorrow?’ The mind comes in front and centre, and for whatever reason, it takes you into that spiral we have all visited, the spiral of insecurity.

New Earth Light Work

New Earth Light Work

To put it another way, after centuries of guilt and shaming ourselves through religion and dogmatic spiritual practice, we are coming into a time where as humans we can truly recognise our divinity and the divinity of others. With this new age of light work will come its own shadow of oversimplification, superficiality or humans suffering under the God complex.

TEACHING  ~ AN ACT OF SERVICE

TEACHING  ~ AN ACT OF SERVICE

To be a teacher of something is an honour, to have the trust of someone is a privilege, and something very sacred. To be able to use your skills to create a transformational experience for someone is magical. Teaching is an act of service. Teaching is about giving, holding space and holding the highest interest of your student. It is about connecting to your source, your light codes and getting in flow with what needs to be taught through you in the moment. Teaching is not a platform to stroke your ego. Teaching is not about you. Teaching is not about proving a point. Teaching is about the experience you are creating for your student.

I feel that in many places, this core appreciation for teaching as a separate skill set, and as an act of service gets easily lost in our Kizomba world. Many times it seems the decision to become a teacher is for ego, or the illusion of money or status. How many times have you been in a class and listened to the teacher talk non stop about themselves? How many times have you attended a festival workshop and found the teacher completely disengaged/ bored to be there? How many times have you done a private class a recognised straight away this teacher has no investment in your needs? How many times have you realised further down the line that what you were taught was actually very low grade explanation or even unsafe techniques?

An open letter to the RISING WOMEN

An open letter to the RISING WOMEN

An open letter to the RISING WOMEN of the new world and our allies.

That a woman feels deeply safe, held, and happy within her own body, should not still be a revolutionary act. And yet, It absolutely is. 20 years into the 21st century, and to see a woman radiating a true confidence, A deep self love, a true self container of healing and abundance

Is absolutely a revolutionary act.

Kizomba Alma ~ The gift of Kizomba

Kizomba Alma ~ The gift of Kizomba

I am writing to you from Sydney, Australia, the year is 2020. It’s April and the world is about to change. A worldwide pandemic is sweeping across the world, connecting us in a way we have never felt before. Our capacity for empathy is quadrupling each day, as we recognise that we are intimately connected with every being on earth. We are thinking about the same things, we have the same concerns, the same restrictions and the same invitation to growth. Mother earth put us all on the same guest list at her end of the world party, and for some of us we are really wishing this party had Kizomba!

We have to practice social distancing and so for the thousands of us who live and breathe Kizomba dance, a portion of our air supply has been seemingly cut off, or has it?

Corona Connection

Corona Connection

I would consider myself a guardian of this beach.

It’s a place I have known since before I was even born,

A shore I’ve walked up and down on average at least once a week for my whole life.

This includes the years I’ve spent not even living here

Because at other times I would walk this beach every day, at least once.
